Strong lineup of partners behind CERNET

The climate challenge cannot be solved by one country, one industry or one type of expertise alone. That is why the CERNET project brings together a unique European partnership of 21 organisations from 10 EU countries and is supported by Horizon Europe through the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU).

From SMEs and global companies to universities, research centres and public organisations, the CERNET consortium represents the entire value chain needed to demonstrate how Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) can turn biogenic CO₂ and CH₄ emissions into valuable bio-based products.

The strength of CERNET lies in its cross-sector collaboration:

  • Technology developers design and refine CCU solutions
  • Industrial partners validate them in real-life production environments
  • Research institutions ensure scientific credibility and sustainability through LCA and socio-economic analysis
  • Public organisations and clusters secure knowledge sharing, dissemination, and replication across Europe

This mix ensures that CERNET is a market-oriented innovation initiative with potential to scale across regions and industries.

The 21 partners span the entire European continent in a pan-European effort.

Strong partners, strong impact

With its diverse and powerful consortium, CERNET shows that Europe’s green transition is best driven by collaboration.

“With partners from ten countries, we combine local expertise with global ambition. That is the strength of CERNET. We stand on many shoulders to move carbon utilization forward,” says Jan Lund from Food & Bio Cluster Denmark and the Dissemination and Communication Manager for CERNET.

The project proves that when research, industry, and public actors join forces, biogenic emissions can be turned from a challenge into a resource – paving the way for a sustainable, bio-based future.
